How can venues open up to the artists in their community?
This question is hugely important to me because I’m part of a group of theatre-makers in Bristol who’ve been agitating for a while for venues in the city to open up and share spaces a little bit.
So, huge shout-out to Tobacco Factory Theatres who, for the last couple of weeks, have been opening up their bar space on Wednesday mornings for their artist members to come and drink coffee (all-important Art Fuel if you’re me), chat to one another and theatre staff, and maybe even get some work done. Anyone can sign up to be an artist member (details here). It’s a brilliant step in the right direction!
What other venues are doing good things to open up to the artists in their community? Answers in the comments please…
